The via ferrata is a form of rock climbing found in the Alps. During the Second World War, the Italians installed steel tracks on the rock sides of mountains in order to cross over them unnoticed. Now, it's one of a Grenoblois' favorite past times in the summer ... when they can't go skiing, that is.
